The History of the German people is actually too long, to simply call it “history“, as it begins in a prehistoric past. However our perspective is clear:

the German-American.

This makes it necessary to explain at first, that this history-presentation here is special. It serves the purpose, of enriching German-American cultural life. Therefore it can not be about telling the history of the German culture area in Europe. This would be the history of Germany. Here however it is about the history of the German people. - This people comes from tribes. Originally the aspect of the tribes was supposed to start this history-chapter. Yet it proved quickly to be too diverse and big. Accordingly many readers should probably take a look at the chapter above, before they read our two history-presentations, in order to be able to understand the names of Germanic tribes better, that appear here.
