The
Germerika Project is a private initiative. It’s success requires your
help! Germerika needs people in the real world, who are willing to contribute
something to the benefit of our common cultural interests and thereby also
their American homeland.
This
has two components, one for institutions and one for individuals:
- We need INSTITUTIONS
AS REGIONAL PARTNERS, not single people, as Germerika and
Hecker do of course also address children and teenagers. Therefore it would
be irresponsible to name a single foreign person as such a contact. But it
would be great, if institutions in every state could collect additional
regional information and offer them combined to the Germerika Project and
thereby German-Americans everywhere. We hope to find partner institutions
in every state, which would cooperate with others in their region. Many
people do great things for our culture and people, but equalizing information
systematically, considering different aspects like tribal and regional
connections and bringing all of this together at one digital meeting
point can certainly create completely new chances! -
For example some regional fests loose income, because of a Bavarian
cultural predominance, which many people simply don’t like, as this is
not their culture! - Sharing “strategies” can help
German-Americans everywhere to enrich their regional communities with the
help and experiences of others, who live far away, but who already managed to
overcome equal obstacles. - Let’s use our diversity!
The
Germerika Project can make it much easier to learn from each other and win
the interest of Americans. Many things in America could become better, if
there was a stronger German-American cultural life, notion of community, and
engagement again! Like a flag in the military or a trademark in marketing, a
symbolizing figure like Germerika has an enormous value for these goals.
Accordingly
our mission is definitely not about building a “Germerika Institution”. It is
about supporting existing institutions as well as bringing people
and information together systematically, offering an
environment that’s inviting for AMERICAN families - and
of course to let Germerika and Hecker motivate our 50 million sisters and
brothers all across the country! …
-
Regional Partners do NOT have to support us financially.
-
Regional Partners collect and provide information about German-American
cultural life in their state, not only about their own activities. These fill
up our state-sites.
-
Regional Partners answer questions of people, who want to get active in their
state.
-
Regional Partners refer to Germerika and Hecker in public.
-
Regional Partners stick to the general values of the Germerika Project in
public (which you can find on each of our sites in the golden bar below).
-
Regional Partners receive a special field on our according state site. The
special attention they win, serves their own interests.
Please
contact us, if you want to become a Regional Partner of the Germerika
Project.
Apart
from that germerika.net shows prepared fields for INSTITUTIONAL
SUPPORTERS on every site. This can include all
kinds of support, including financial support. Clubs, economy, science and authorities can help. Please contact us.
Thanks!
- Of course that’s not all! -
There are also ways for every single one to take part individually.
Our
chapters and initiatives introduce ways to get active by REALIZING OUR APPROACHES.
Another
absolutely great support would be the simple EXPRESSION
OF SUPPORT, if you are a famous athlete, cultural celebrity or politician. (If
you know such people, please tell them about germerika.net) -
It’s about the cultural heritage of the USA –
a heritage that extremists had once (very “successfully”) tried to
destroy. Please help Germerika to show how lovable it is! …
All
you’d need to do is to write us the sentence “I support Germerika and
Hecker!” as well as informing your
management, club or bureau, so that we can check it. -
Accordingly stupid would it be to fake such statements! … -
Better stick to the law, folks! …
We
would be proud to show your photo under this supporting statement in the
special “Prominent Supporters” area of germerika.net!
If
you are on the way to get there, give others the chance to support you,
for your common background. Therefore, what ever you do, consider to
do it SHOWING THAT YOU ARE A GERMAN-AMERICAN. Search the contact to regional German-American
institutions and introduce Germerika’s and your own ideas. That’s all it
takes to write new chapters of our common history. You’d be surprised how
welcome you are there! …
There
is also a SCIENTIFIC WAY how everyone can take part. You can collect information about
the German-American history in your region. Students could even get good
marks for it in school, if they propose such reports to their teachers! Make
reports about our history and culture to carry Germerika’s American Dream
into the educational system.
This
educational system (like the internet) is also influenced by bullying.
Engaging for the feeling of being German-American, can bring very different
young people together, who might never really get to know each other in
school. This can overcome prejudices and indifference.
Apart
from that, it’s a shame that the language of the biggest ethnic group
in the US is being taught only rarely in schools anymore, despite it has once
been absolutely usual to teach all subjects in German and despite it’s
normal in Europe to learn several languages. - Consider whether you
could try anything to change this in your own town. - Every
tiny action is needed to make something big get in movement. Germerika needs you!
And
than there are THE MANY LITTLE THINGS:
Taking
part by simply calling oneself a German-American! -
The times of 1917, when German-Americans taught their children in
tears to hide or deny their family’s identity, are over!!! -
What’s not over yet, is the fact that the “bad guys” have so
far won in this affair …
Taking
part by learning German oneself. There are
websites, teaching languages. One can listen to language-CDs or just read
articles of germerika.net in English and afterwards try it in German.
Taking
part by asking questions to one’s parents
and grandparents and experiencing how much they welcome one’s interest
in the own family!
Taking
part by including German contents into one’s
cheerleading, poetry, romance(!), paintings, fashion-style! -
Becoming a trendsetter, by moving ahead! - That’s
the spirit that built America!
Taking
part by visiting German-American blogs.
Taking
part by talking to people one meets, having
German names!
Taking
part by setting America’s flag with
black-red-golden streamers, like Germerika does.
Taking
part by singing the “Starspangled Banner” in
German, like German-Americans did it so long in the past.
Taking
part by showing the Germerika Banner
at sports events or German-American fests.
Taking
part by designing things that give
German customs an appearance that fits to one’s own American region.
Considering one’s own tribal backgrounds.
Taking
part by painting German things with one’s
children.
And
last but not least, taking part, by just making our information in any
way a part of one’s family-life.
- Becoming aware of being a German-American.
Reading our history summaries and
trying to win a feeling for one’s own history inside it. Playing what
one reads. Loving what one is.
- Being self-assured!
Thanks -
no: Danke! - for taking
part - however you like to …
